Cupping is an ancient therapy that uses negative pressure within cups to reduce tension, decrease inflammation, and improve blood flow and energy movement.
While cupping is considered safe (especially air cupping, which does not include fire and heat risk), it can cause swelling and bruising of the skin. As the skin under a cup is drawn up, the blood vessels at the surface of the skin expand. This may result in small, circular bruises where the cups were applied. These bruises are usually painless, however, and disappear within a few days following treatment.
An assessment shall be made before cupping to ensure it is the appropriate treatment for you that day.
